The past few weeks at work have been crazy, so naturally I indulged in a little retail therapy with shoes to help me transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. I’ve had my eye on the Chloé “Harper” booties since last fall, and I finally found them on sale so I pulled the trigger! They have huge oversized laces, so to balance them out, I wore them with a minimalist wrap dress from Club Monaco. There are tons of great lace-up bootie options out there, but depending on how much of a statement the laces are, you may want to keep the rest of your outfit relatively simple with a tighter silhouette.

If you already own basic lace-up booties but want to give the bold lace look a try, replace your laces with some thick ribbon from your local craft store. I always go to M&J Trimming in NYC’s garment district because they have the best selection of velvet and grosgrain ribbons (plus everything else you can think of). They also have a website in case you want to order online. Scroll all the way down for more lace-up booties I love. 👓
